Fir Clubmosses - almost 200 years apart.
Also known as fir clubmoss.
Here's a few photos of the fir clubmoss from my walks on Dunnet Head.
These are the pressed herbarium sheets of Robert Dick, baker and botanist of Thurso 1811-1866.
Fir clubmoss recorded nearly 200 years ago.
Robert Dick also documented other clubmosses, including Lycopodim clavatum also known as the stag's-horn clubmoss /common clubmoss. (photo below). This clubmoss is toxic and has had many uses including using the spores as fireworks and flashes of light in early photography.
